Not sure if you are including your mother’s illness (hope she is better now) in your cover letters? I cannot imagine an employer (worth working for) who could not understand your devotion to your family in a time of crisis.

If you’re not getting any job offers now, why not take the risk of being more open about this? The right boss will want you.

I agree that they do not communicate their changes to their privacy policy well. This diagram shows how convoluted the current settings are. But as consumers, we must be aware of what information we put out there. The third party apps do not have access to our email unless we let them.

I believe the problem most people have with Facebook is that they continuously try to sneak in these privacy clauses and applications without properly informing their users. Some of these applications sell your information to third party sites, something that although I may be comfortable giving my e-mail over Facebook… Unless I am getting a cut of their profit, there is no way I want them sending off my e-mail to one of their buyers.

Good points, I agree with you. I once read an article from a journalist who complained that sharing informations about likes/groups and fan pages would ruin his credibility if he was trying to gain information from a source who was against those things. I just figured someone like that ought to have two profiles – one with little information and can be used for professional purposes. And another that you can use for personal, daily life.
